Vincent Chen :
Mr. Chen currently serves as the Senior Partner at the Paradigm. Being an Investment Committee Board member, Mr. Chen is responsible for overseeing, with respect to the investment projects, the strategic sourcing, due diligence process, investment structure analysis, and post investment management. Prior to joining the Paradigm, Mr. Chen was the Executive Director at the FFBC Holdings, a regional financial services provider, overseeing the investment banking function of the firm and later helped the firm establish its venture investment arm, Nouveau Capital Partners Ltd. (“NCP”), and then became the Executive Director of the NCP. Mr. Chen was the de facto decision maker for investment decisions at the NCP, and at the time the firm was focusing upon early and strategic investments in industries including optoelectronics, computer peripheral and components, and creative media. Under the realm of Mr. Chen, NCP had successfully engaged in number of early stage and alternative investment projects in Taiwan and China, and yielded an outstanding Return on Investment; in particular, the liquidation of the two portfolio investments, MasTouch Optoelectronics Technologies Co., Ltd. and Fast Technologies Inc., had generated an IRR of 198% and 117% respectively.
Prior to his career in direct investment sector, Mr. Chen was VP and the head of Financial Institutions Group at the DBS Bank Ltd., Taipei branch, of DBS Group Holdings, responsible for the bank's relationships with major domestic financial institutions including banks, insurance companies, and securities firms. Before DBS Bank, Mr. Chen was the Vice President at the Standard Chartered Bank of Standard Chartered PLC, responsible for the bank's corporate relationships with Taiwan domiciled global corporations and their group companies, covering globally renown corporate names like Hon Hai Precision Co., Ltd., Acer Inc., Compal Electronics Inc., and Inventec Corp .
Prior to his career in the commercial banking sector, Mr. Chen has extensive experience in investment banking and venture capital sectors. During his career as an investment banker, Mr. Chen has participated in a number of monumental deals in Taiwan's capital markets, including the tender offer and privatization of the Wise Technology Taiwan Ltd. in 2003. This tender offer project marked the very first after the passage of the amended “Regulations Governing Tender Offers for Purchase of the Securities of a Public Company” and became one of the only two successful projects of its like at the time.
Mr. Chen was educated in the United States and received BS in Finance and MBA from the California State University, East Bay in the Silicon Valley.
